Our oil pump gears are fitted to new oil pump housings. As the gears are larger than the OE part, the new oil pump housings are machined to suit our matched gear pairs. This process achieves precision tolerances which are individually measured and recorded on a quality assurance certification for each pump. Our oil pump gears are manufactured locally using Boler Calmax steel alloy. Calmax has the following properties: free marching; non galling; hardened by heat treatment; and, stable during hardening. The outer gears are partially machined then hardened to 45 HRC. The inner gears are fully machined and hardened to 48 - 52 HRC. The outer gears are toleranced machined and manually paired with the inner gears.
With a standard D22 engine the sump must be removed to allow the lower oil pump timing cover removal. -However-----
With our oil pump cover kit fitted the oil pump lower timing cover can be removed without removing the sump. Oil pumps do wear so if you are fitting one of our timing chain kits, consider this oil pump cover conversion as it will save a days labour in the workshop should the oil pump need replacing at a later date.
